These sturdy, well-built pieces from the 1930s seem to have been designed with utilitarian rather than ornamental ends in mind. All are decorated with blue, green or brown glazes in paired combinations, sponge-dabbed or sprayed in mottled patterns, like the rustic wares of Scotland and England, and all bear the ink-stamped mark of Fowler’s factories in Sydney or Thomastown, Victoria.
The two blue jugs are from different factories but made to the same pattern.
The flared-mouthed bowl at bottom is of a curiously popular shape; Bendigo, Bennett’s,  Cornwell’s, and probably others produced similar bowls in a variety of finishes.
